The film is about the daily lives of people living in a Mumbai chawl. Rajaram, a clerk, is secretly in love with his neighbour, Sandhya but is unable to disclose his love, mainly due to his timidity. One day, his fast-talking friend Bashudev comes and impreses Sandhya to get going with her. However, Bashudev soon comes into trouble because of his flirty nature and his engagement with Sandhya gets cancelled.
