“A musical revolution was happening, it was falling on Deaf ears“. --Richard Alan White 1989.
Film History:
Produced from 1988 thru 1989 of the Los Angeles underground music scene with promoters Goldenvoice by filmmakers Richard Alan White and Video Louis Elovitz. In 1991 White would spend a month in the studio supervising the editing process. With long travel and expenses he’d finally have a finished edit by the end of 1991. Sent promos out to executives from 1991 to 1996 then in 1997 added the credits for a festival entry with the Slamdance Film Festival where it would be declined.
In December of 1995 during a meeting regarding the release of the Bad Religion riot with Brett Gurewitz founder of Epitaph, Brett would offer distribution for this film. Why it was never released remains a Rock n Roll mystery.
White would then produce 25 promotional copies that he personally delivered to the Mtv mailroom and sorted into each mail cube for each executives headquartered in Santa Monica, California circa 1999. No reply, however he would be contacted to help with the Red Hot Chili Peppers “Behind the music “ special from that same year.
The date for the Red Hot Chili Peppers performance at Cal State Long Beach in this film is November 26,1988. The editor of this film made a typo which gives us the wrong date of 11-26-1989 as well as the wrong date from Anthony’s introduction. correct date should read 11-26-1988.
December 1998; This film would be held hostage for several days, threats were made by former Earthlink employees that they in fact were not returning the master films to Richard during the construction of a new social media website being built under White’s supervision. White had to call the FBI for federal assistance regarding copyright theft of his films including this one, they would be returned to him with in 24 hours. In 1999 White put the film in the vault until just now when he uploaded it here on December 13, 2015.
