Character Illustration with texture in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop | Speed Art (girl on bicycle)

In today’s Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop speed art video you’ll see how I create flat character illustration in Adobe Illustrator and export it to make a final render in Adobe Photoshop. I start with a rough sketch as usual and bring it to Adobe Illustrator to use my favorite ’Outline-Divide’ tracing method. Then I break all objects to separate layers and export the file as .psd. In Adobe Photoshop I make grayscale landscape drawing and start to apply colors. You can notice that I create 2 additional windows for this character illustration. First one is to see how my image looks in b/w and second - how the image looks from the distance. I create 2 custom brushes in this speed art video and use a texture. For texture I used a pencil and a paper for gouache, then took a shot with my photo camera and placed it in Adobe Photoshop. To add shadows I created a stipple brush and applied adjustments in the brushes panel. I hope today’s speed art video about flat character illustration in Illustrator and Photoshop will really help you out.
