Aquarium jaguar Cichlid Fish Tanks are some of my favorite on the planet. These Predator cichlids are so beautiful. Especially adult full size jag cichlids. I feed mine live food and Hikari Food Sticks supplemented in.
More talk on fish tank predators:
Had my co2 tank just siting for about 6 months, went and got it filled and now I’m having a hard time getting it up and running again. I can’t tell if it’s leaking or just releasing excess co2. In the video I have (I’m not sure if you can hear it) but when I turn the working pressure all the way up I hear air coming from where I zoomed in at the end (the 4 hole looking thing). Any advise on how to get this up and running again would be greatly appreciated. Also this is a aquatek regulator. Thanks guys.
Working pressure shouldn’t have to be that high it should be around 35 psi and the tank psi looks low for it being a fresh fill. I had to pause the video several times to see which was which. Correct me if I’m wrong but left gauge is tank psi and right gauge is working psi. You are correct with the gages. I’m having a hard time turning up the psi. Kinda just gonna start over I think. What’s my next step here.
Im looking for input. I set up a 55g with all fake plants and the tank got algae everywhere,i had the tank close to sunlight. I was told to move the tank so i did that and changed it to a completely planted tank but i got algae everywhere again. What is going on with this?
Every new tank will go through a cycle of alage blooms. Any tank I have ever done takes roughly 2 years to level out completely and stop producing extreme amounts of alage. Just keep doing regular water changes. Make sure your light is only on for 6 hours.
I’m actually thinking on using regular potting soil or topsoil with no ferts I’m more or less doing a planted experiment tank with no fish only plants at this time and for a while. Which is why I’m asking looking for a cheaper solution. If you guys do go the route of potting soil get the absolute cheepest no additives eg: chicken, cow, bat poo added. Look up how to make mineralized soil. It takes a week or so to make but will remove most of the toxic ammonia and other harmfull chemicals.
Basically you lay it out on a tarp in the yard. Spray it with water, let it dry, turn it then repeat. The more times you do this the better the soil will be. Then sumply cap with your favourite sand. I used black sand and black eco complete mix in 2 of my plant tanks so far have been very happy with the results got both at Petsmart.
I am just curious as to what people think. Sunset Honey Gourami or Sunset Thicklipped Gourami? I have been told both, was sold as a honey. She (has rounded fins so guessing girl) has always been peaceful and fits in quite well. I’ve never bought any fish online, but the nearest place for me to get fish is 2 hours away, so I’m considering online. Can anyone recommend a really good online store to buy from? Also, is it better to buy from a company that is geographically close? Or does it really matter?
Everyone, thank you so much for all the suggestions! I’m having fun looking at all these new fish I never knew about. Might be time for another tank. Proud of myself. Did water change on 55 and added my sponge filter for future sick fish. Almost complete water change on quarantine tank so I could catch and transfer to community tank 5 Black neon tetras to complete that school. Added 8 Cherry barbs to quarantine tank from LFS. And my betta got a water change and an IAL.
This fish was in the feeder tank at lfs was wondering if anybody besides my friend thinks this feeder fish either is koi or is mixed with koi sorry my tank is cloudy my son dumped a whole fish food container in tank so I done 50% water change. I wish I could get a closer pic. Can’t get pic but the other fish I picked out is a feeder also and it has a short kinda fat body and a head that looks like it may wind up with a wen the other one I got is Def a normal one but I love it’s white color lol ps the fish pictures is the same fish just different angles.
Was shopping at my local Meijer and I ran across this bad boy, his body literally is the girth of three full grown betta’s yet he’s not a king or a giant. Just had to buy him even though I’m downgrading from 5 tanks to 3 and still have room for 1 extra betta. Just got my first betta, Frank He is the least colorful fish in the whole store but I think he’s just too cute. One thing I wonder though, is he a juvenile ? The reason why I ask is he’s on the smaller side compared to other betta in the store. He’s been enjoying his tank and loves dashing from one side to another.
