The Limes, Laser and High Tech. The Raetian Limes in Bavaria

This film provides the viewer with a fascinating insight to how modern archaeology works. Using the Raetian Limes as an example, the film shows how 3D laser scanning is applied - on the ground (terrestrial). or in the air (airborne laser scanning). These techniques now make it possible to document the Limes with a precision that in the past was only dreamed of. In addition to laser scanning, a further technological method has also found its way into the field of archaeology: the virtual reconstruction of building structures in 3D. This brings the Limes and its occupants back to life.
