The Lombardo-Venetian kingdom is the crown land of the Austrian Empire on the territory of modern Italy. Lombardy and Venice became part of the Italian Kingdom during the unification of Italy - the Risorgimento. The anthem of the Austrian Empire “Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser“ (German: “God save Emperor Franz“) was also the anthem of Lombardy and Venice. Today this tune is known as the German national anthem.
