I tried visible mending with Sashiko style stitching. This is how it turned out! Mending denim jeans

Thank you for watching! Recently I’ve been into Sashiko stitching and the idea behind it. In old times, Sashiko was the way for ordinary (or poor) people to reinforce and keep using old fabric as long as possible. It was probably done more for economic reasons at the time but I think the idea is useful for us for our environment. We can extend the life of items by mending and repairing and reduce the amount of waste. In this video, I tried to mend a hole on a pair of jeans by attaching a patch and stitching over it to reinforce the worn out area. It not that everything went smoothly but I’m happy about the result and will definitely try it again! I have been exploring some ideas from old times to learn the ways to reuse, repurpose and repair things and reduce waste.
