Videos showing the Chinese coast guard using water cannons against Philippine ships have surfaced on social media. Following the confrontation, the cockpit’s front glass was damaged, resulting in four injuries. Reports indicate that no serious injuries occurred. Interestingly, the Chinese had not used water cannons for almost three months; the last instance was in December last year. It is noteworthy that the Chinese have not been as aggressive in driving away the Filipinos from Second Thomas Bank for quite some time, at least since the beginning of this year.
