Taiwan Earthquake Live | Buildings Shake And Collapse | Japan On Tsunami Alert | News18 Live | N18L A massive earthquake hit Taiwan’s capital city — Taipei — shortly before 8 am (00:00 GMT) local time on Wednesday, triggering Tsunami warnings for the self-ruled island as well as parts of southern Japan. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said the quake had a magnitude of 7.4, with its epicentre at 18 kilometres south of Taiwan’s Hualien City at a depth of 34.8 km. While Japan’s Meteorological Agency said the magnitude of the quake was 7.7. Taipei’ seismology official said that this earthquake in Taiwan is the “strongest in 25 years”.
