The Magnificent Homes Of Southeast Asia | Show Me Where You Live Marathon

Phillipe is interested in how architecture can provide a glimpse into how people live all around the world. He travels to some of the most unique spots and culture on the planet to see what they have to offer. Starting off in Tokyo, he goes to see a new trend of microhomes to fit the ever-expanding population before then heading to Kyoto, Japan, where he takes a look at the Machiya homes, a traditionally crafted wooden townhouse. Philippe then makes his way to West Papua to the Korowai people deep in the jungle who live impressive dwellings on top of trees, meeting Indonesia’sToraja people, who live in unique dwellings called tongkonen, which means the place where you sit, a home, and also a dwelling place for the dead, prepared for spiritual departure. Finally he ends his journey exploring the unique homes of Vietnam, Myanmar, Nepal, and China. 00:00:00- 00:26:08 Tokyo, Japan 00:26:09- 00:52:23 Kyoto, Japan 00:52:24- 01:18:00 Korowai, West Papoua 01:18:01- 01:43:47 Sulawesi, Indonesi
