We feel that the early reggae tunes of Brazil have been overlooked, so we went back in time and found some real gems! From the early 1980s, a wave of Brazilian-style reggae tunes was released in the North and Northeast of Brazil. Most of them are on independent or local record labels; these are mainly non-digitized vinyl albums and singles that we have collected over the last 3 years. Brazilian reggae music was first inspired by classic reggae albums. Then the visits by Bob Marley and Peter Tosh to Bahia and eventually it took on a more distinct Brazilian lyrical flavour and rhythmic expression.
