Tit For T’hat (1936)

Full title reads: “Tit for T’hat. Al Smith ex-Governor of New York, goes all Texan“. New York, United States of America (USA). C/U of Al Smith and a glamorous woman. The woman make a speech in a strong Southern accent. She introduces herself as the official hostess of the Texas Centennial Exposition in Dallas. She invites Al Smith to the exposition and presents him with a 10 gallon Stetson (cowboy hat). She places then kisses him on the cheek. Al Smith makes a short, light hearted acceptance speech and then presents the woman with a Brown Derby bowler hat (supposedly to represent New York?). He then gives the woman a peck on the cheek. He then turns to camera and asks the crew if they need to re-shoot this scene. We hear people off screen laugh at Al’s joke. Note: Al Smith was Democrat presidential candidate in 1928 elections against Hoover. AH 2001. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV.
