Putin “has to take responsibility“: Navalny spokesperson confirms death of Russian opposition leader

A spokesperson for Alexei Navalny, the fiercest critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin, has confirmed the death of Russia’s opposition leader following reports from prison officials on Friday. In a video released this morning, Kira Yarmysh revealed Navalny— who was serving a three-decade prison sentence — had died on Friday afternoon after losing consciousness during a walk, citing an official notice given to his mother. Since reports emerged of the 47-year-old’s death, world leaders and followers of Navalny have accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of being behind the mysterious passing. In her statement, Yarmysh said that Putin “has to take responsibility” for it. Navalny’s death has triggered memorials across not just Russia, but the entire world.
