A spokesperson for Alexei Navalny, the fiercest critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin, has confirmed the death of Russia’s opposition leader following reports from prison officials on Friday. In a video released this morning, Kira Yarmysh revealed Navalny— who was serving a three-decade prison sentence — had died on Friday afternoon after losing consciousness during a walk, citing an official notice given to his mother. Since reports emerged of the 47-year-old’s death, world leaders and followers of Navalny have accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of being behind the mysterious passing.
