Illegal fireworks set off on London’s Millennium Bridge

The Globe Theatre was forced to abandon a performance of Shakespeare’s Antony and Cleopatra after a flare fired by Algerian football fans fell into the crowd. Fans of the Mouloudia Club d’Alger had set off a barrage of red fireworks and flares from the Millennium Bridge in celebration of the club’s 103rd anniversary. Theatregoers were evacuated from the open-air venue at 10pm on Wednesday after the misguided missile plummeted into the middle of the standing section of the theatre.
