The Old Clock (Soviet Songs in English)

This song was a tough one to translate since there is not a single rhyme in the original version in Russian. I actually had to come up with some rhymes! That was quite an experience!!! English Version: The old clock of mine keeps ticking on My old clock will be my witness and my jury ’Cause every single time you came along It greeted you with loud and joyous chimes. But later on you failed to understand I thought the world would burst into ten thousand pieces The universe prevailed and life went on To solemn tunes of a requiem on chimes Who can reverse the rapid flow of time? It presses ever onward without stopping. With darkness in my home I am sitting all alone, As this old clock of mine keeps ticking on. Then you said your good-bye, and you were gone, The cupids on the clock had all the arrows broken All I can do is try to carry on And keep my pace with ever-fleeing time.
