This version of Tuba Skinny’s “San“ was recorded during a concert happening in Ridgefield Park, August 10, 2021. This is the only time I know of when the band played this theme with vocals. The 1936 text by Spencer Leigh Leon Selph (Blue Ridge Playboys), is sung by guest performer Blind “Boy“ Paxton. The composition itself, written by Lindsay McPhail and Walter Michels, dates back to 1920 and has received more than 120 official covers and versions; including two text versions.
