Sitar Version of the Beatles Song: Within You Without You -

When I was in Australia this winter I had a chance to combine three of my musical passions: sitar, didgeridoo and a Beatles’ song. In fact, if it wasn’t for George Harrison and his association with Ravi Shankar, most of us in the West would probably not even know what a sitar is. I remember the first time I heard “Within You Without You“ from the album Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. I was mesmerized and I was hooked. It wasn’t long after this time that I found a teacher and began studying sitar. The coolest thing of all was that my first sitar teacher, Shambhu Das Ji, had actually spent time teaching sitar to George Harrison while the Beatles were in Kashmir, India. Such an amazing connection! Here is my live version of the song- with the addition of didgeridoo. Recorded live in Byron Bay, cheers!
