GAME RECAP: Penguins vs. Red Wings () | Crosby Assists On 1,000th Goal

After a few days off, the Pittsburgh Penguins returned to work against the Detroit Red Wings looking to get back in a playoff position. Only a few minutes into the game, Drew O’Connor scored the first goal of the game by crashing the net and picking up a garbage goal. The Red Wings responded with a goal of their own. Late in the 1st period, Kris Letang took the lead back for the Penguins. But once again, Detroit had an answer. In the 2nd period, Sidney Crosby scored his 41st of the season to take the lead again. Adding to that lead shortly after was Bryan Rust. Just like the end of the previous period, Detroit scored a late goal to make the score 4-3 for the Penguins at the end of the 2nd. Jeff Carter came up big for the Penguins on a penalty kill scoring a short-handed goal to make the score 5-3. The Red Wings scored two quick goals to tie the game. Lucas Raymond finished his hat trick with Detroit’s 5th goal of the night and forced overtime. Crosby collected the puck near the net and curled back finding
