1967 Tae Kwon Do & Master Choi Young-eui (Oyama)

Oyama was born in 1923 in Gimje, Korea & was given the name Choi Young Eui (최영의). This was during the Japanese occupation. Reports have him training in martial arts when was 9 years old & living in Manchuria. He credits his 1st instructor as a Korean named Lee, who was a seasonal worker on his sister’s farm. He later moved to Japan & became a leading Karate figure. In 1967 he visited the ITF Headquarters in Seoul at the invitation of Lt.
