W. A. Mozart - Quartet for Oboe and Strings, [Manuscript Score Video]

0:00 I. Allegro 6:52 II. Adagio 10:28 III. Rondeau: allegro 14:57 Performers and album information This formidable work is quite remarkable amongst the 18th century literature for the oboe, written by Mozart for the virtuoso oboist Friedrich Ramm. It’s one of the first pieces to really take advantage of the newer classical oboe’s expanded high register and sweet, singing second octave. It’s also notable for the use of polymetre in the third movement with the oboe in common time while the strings are in 6/8 for a short passage. Manuscript available on IMSLP
