GLEN HELLEN GP RACE ON THE MOTO TRACK with Blake Wilkey and Harrison Weiss!

Glen Helen is know for one of the legendary moto tracks in SoCal! With the Talladega first corner, prime time dirt and many elevation elements it has to be one of my absolute favorite tracks to shred a Class 11 on! Fellow driver Harrison Weiss also raced his Polaris Pro R at this years MORE SERIES round 3 of the series. We came into this race sitting in second in points and second in the Empi Triple Crown series behind Cisco Bio ready to give it our best. With about 30 cars in the hunt for the top spot our weekend had its ups and downs. Pit crew challenge we got smoked hardcore… night race we won it and we’re battling with Donny Donavan until some lapped traffic came into play and got lucky towards the end. The big GP course Saturday I had Rez the winner of the Empi Inc contest for a ride along rip with me for an hour on the GP course. Off the start and for the first half of the race we had a little lead on Cisco Bio until we got a flat from a basketball sized rock after the back straight. Catching up to Cisco pushing hard the passenger upper rear shock mount broke with two laps left causing it to flop around with the tube junction creating chaos yet we pushed through for a second place finish. Spending several hours getting the car back together for Sundays race was a thrash. Shout out to the Fab School for all those boys help getting it back together with all their tools and machines properly 🙏🏻 Sunday started off next to Cisco where he had the inside line and we had to chase him for a few laps after he got us on the start. Once we got by him pushing hard we sprinted as fast as we possibly could to make up time on Saturday’s results but it just wasn’t enough. Settled for a second place overall which wasn’t bad out of 30 cars. The Sletten Engineering 1600cc was put through the wringer and still ran strong after floating valves damn near every shift. So many people to thank that support us our King shocks we’re pushed to the limits. X-Comp tires were hooking up, rugged radios had coms dialed, Empi parts throughout the car proved once again they are oh so capable, full throttle batteries never skip a beat and so much more! This was our 40th race with the SLUG SHARK AND 40th FINISH with ZERO DNF’s to date! Unbelievable record and it wouldn’t be possible without the best partners I could ask for and Papi, Tim, Kenny, Kevin, Savannah, Shelby, Fern who keeps us fed and many more who make this all happen! It’s a TEAM effort and I couldn’t do it without everyone in our corner. Harrison ran strong for a first place on Saturday! Flat tire from a boulder of a rock took him out of first to second in Sundays race where he played catch up and merely lost the top spot by seconds on overall time! All in all we showed up gave it our best with two second place finished overall and a couple heat wins, fastest lap for us both with a night race Gravel Kings night race win!
