Released in 1941, this film primarily emphasizes the natural resources of the region. The film begins with a map of the Andes (:35) and shows Lake Titicaca (1:00), seat of the ancient Inca empire. At (1:22) llamas are shown being herded in Peru at a mountain village (1:48). At (1:52) alpaca wool is used to weave blankets and ponchos. At (2:30) native inhabitants of Peru are shown. At (3:00) a farmer disperses seed. At (3:14) a modern ranch or estancia is shown. At (3:28) Chilean nitrate mine is shown with a huge steam shovel loading railroad cars. At (3:54) at Chilean copper, silver or gold mine and smelter operation are shown. At (4:22) the railroad over the Andes mountain range is shown, one of the highest in the world. At (5:11) the Argentine pampas or prairie country is shown. At (5:19) a passenger train is shown. At (5:32) Buenos Aires, capital of Argentina, is shown with its bustling downtown. At (5:57) grape and fruit growing region of Argentina is shown, with wine grapes on the vine. At (6:23) the cattle industry and wheat growing area of the country are showcased. At (6:49) Argentina’s cowboys / vaqueros are seen working on a ranch, herding and shearing sheep. At (7:35) a huge wagon is pulled by a gigantic team of horses.
