The starting chain multiple is 3 2. The first part consists of half double crochet stitches that are made in the back bump, or the back loop, or the third loop. This forms a nice ribbing or ridge all along the edge of the scarf. The middle section of the scarf is a modified granny stitch. And then the other edging is formed with the same half double crochet stitches to create a nice ribbing or ridge effect.
