Fluoresce, by Philip Snyder

I was commissioned to write this piece for an excellent high school guitar ensemble, St. Piux X High School Advanced Guitar Ensemble. It is the second piece they have commissioned from me, and I appreciate getting to work on it with them and their director, Brion Kennedy. The piece can be performed as either a guitar quartet or a guitar orchestra. I recorded all four parts of this recording in my studio. The guitars I used in this recording are my Masaru Kohno 1993 spruce top (gtr 3 and 4), a Mattingly 1986 cedar top (gtr 2), and a Kenny Hill 2013 double top spruce over cedar (gtr 1). Both the Mattingly and the Hill are for sale, they belonged to John Sutherland, and I’ve been housing them to show to students/collectors.
