Giving up Ukraine may be a smart move, but American politicians rarely do smart things. The truth is that the US has no particular reason to give up on Ukraine. That would be killing the goose that lays the golden eggs. Keep in mind that the US annual budget is $6.3 trillion. Even if the United States spends 200 billion a year on Ukraine, this will be less than 3% of their budget. But what matters most to the US? Not a single American dies in Ukraine. Unfortunately, analysts who expect the United States to leave Ukraine have a very selective memory.
