Support Morgaine on Patreon: Support Lois on Patreon: Today I’m painting this beginner-friendly loose watercolour snowy beach landscape with the beautiful lighthouse Paard van Marken in the Netherlands. It is another idea for Christmas/winter holiday cards, inspired by a photo from Pixabay: I start off by simplifying the photo and sketching it out on my paper, then going over the sketch with my Faber Castell waterproof black fine liner size Small, outlining the scene and filling in the shadows with blocked in shading and crosshatching. Next I complete the scene with simple loose washes of paint over the waterproof outline, with a bit of practice, a lovely, easy way to paint such a scene. You could paint this smaller and use as cards, or print copies from a larger painting and make the copies into cards. I’m using Saunders Waterford 140lb
