Titel: Chin Chillah x Sami Dan – When Di Aguanista Play (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO)

How many mobile drilling rigs do you know that are artistically outfitted with water and sanitation messages and that go by an official name? Well, we know one: Welcome John’s Rig! Viva con Agua procured and supplied a mobile drilling rig to be used in the Ethiopian highlands of the Amhara Region to scale up the provision of basic water supply services in rural communities, reaching a near 100% basic water supply service in five woredas (districts) upon project completion. Implementation partner is the ‘Organisation for the Rehabilitation and Development of Amhara’ (ORDA), which has the sole ownership and usage rights of the rig. The John’s Rig project is the flagship project of Viva con Agua comprising of its biggest project budget to date (8,800,000 €), with the longest continuous project duration of 8 years. The project commenced in 2016 and has so far accomplished over 100 successful drillings, providing over 60,000 people with access to clean water. The German and Ethiopian reggae artists Chin Chillah and Sami Dan produced a song titled “When di Aguanista Play” - an anthem for John’s Rig, the drilling crew and the project as a whole. It is an artistic piece and innovative way of project communication and call-to-action fundraising as well as a dedication and appreciation of the hard work that the drilling crew from ORDA puts into this project. The music video is an animated short-film, which was created by Kenyan artist and long-time Viva con Agua supporter Chela Chelwek, in which the global Viva con Agua family visits John’s Rig at his ‘workspace’ and ‘home turf’ – the Ethiopian highlands. John takes the viewer onto a journey through his daily routine and the hard work carried out by him and his drilling crew. The film has a joyful and educating character: Where does our drinking water come from? How do we access it? How do we make the human right to water a reality for all? And how does this look like when it is done in Viva con Agua style? It raises awareness for the important topic of global water supply, emphasises the collective effort to respond to the existing needs and sends a signal for global solidarity.
