Early spring woke up Helsinki Zoo brown bears again (Ursus arctos arctos)

Early spring woke up Helsinki Zoo brown bears again The bears decided it’s springtime in Helsinki Zoo. The winter hibernation of these 11 and 16 year old female bears lasted 3 months. It seems the early spring weather woke up the bears as this week has been exceptionally warm and sunny in Finland. After the bears had rushed out from their winter nest, they went around the enclosure looking for food, and finally found some meat leftovers under the snow. They also ate some green grass. The younger bear was clearly itching as it scratched its fur against tree trunks and rough walls. Keepers told there is meat waiting for the bears in their fridge, as bears have already become hungry after the hibernation.
