If so, then it is an unknown young actress miming her voice (Kashevarova would have been 54 in 1960). Alternately, one knowledgeable poster to YouTube has stated that the voice is that of Elizaveta Shumskaya. Still another claims that Tamara is sung by Elena Shumilova. As the credits from the telefilm are missing and presumably were originally given (like that of the same director’s telefilm of “Dubrovsky“) as a voiceover at the beginning of the broadcast, I am not currently aware of any source from which to verify the identity of the cast. The narrative extracts from the original poem by Mikhail Lermontov were subtitled by Philipp Reznikov (), substituting the equivalent lines in English from a 19th-century translation (the author of which is unknown).
