John Trenchard (Aneurin Barnard) is an orphan who dreams of finding Blackbeard’s riches and falls for Grace (Sophie Cookson), who also happens to be the daughter of his sworn enemy, the local magistrate Mohune (Ben Chaplin). Based on Meade Falkner’s novel, Moonfleet, about 19th century smuggling on the Dorset coast. Sophie Cookson is best known for portraying secret agent Roxy in the 2014 spy film Kingsman: The Secret Service and its 2017 sequel Kingsman 2: The Golden Circle and as Sidney Pierce in the Netflix series Gypsy.
