Overwatch: FAKE Female Pro Player Controversy!

Strap in, this story has a more confusing plot-line than Lost (old tv show reference). “Ellie“ has been storming up the competitive ladder to the top, then picked up by pro Tier 2 NA Contenders Team Second Wind. Received loads of backlash by those who didn’t believe she was indeed a female player, just a boy using his girlfriend on comms to play a prank or “do a social experiment.“ With enough groundswell of toxicity, Ellie left the team... End of? No. Turns out, if leaks are to believed the root cause behind the sexist targeted toxicity was indeed accurate. With little to no proof to correspond the voice to the gameplay, the suspicions were accurate. So where does this leave us? Nowhere new unfortunately. Girls are routinely attacked over voice comms on the regular in gaming and we are no closer to seeing female gamers get on a path to pro... YIKES.
