Similarly, in January 2022, the FDA announced the approval of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine (brand name: Spikevax) for persons 18 years of age and older. This vaccine also continues to be available under emergency use authorization for younger persons or other situations. For most people, the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines are the preferred choices.
