“A DIRTY Secret Deal” | Isabel Oakeshott SLAMS Keir Starmer Over Chagos Island | Alex Phillips
Keir Starmer has defended handing control of the Chagos Islands to Mauritius, despite criticism from Conservative leadership candidates.
The Prime Minister said the deal secures the future of the key US-UK military base on Diego Garcia, calling it “the most important thing.“
Critics worry the move could allow China to gain influence in the Indian Ocean and raise concerns over other British territories.
While Labour finalised the deal, it was initiated by the Conservatives under Liz Truss, with James Cleverly, a current leadership contender, leading the negotiations.
