Russian pilot who defected to Ukraine found shot dead in Spain

Local media confirmed on Monday that the defector pilot’s body, riddled with bullets, was found in an underground garage near Alicante last week. Spanish authorities confirmed that the body of Maxim Kuzminov was found on February 13th in the town of Villajoyosa in the south of Spain. Ukraine’s GUR military intelligence service confirmed the identity of Kuzminov, who flew to Ukraine in his Mi-8 helicopter last August. Media reports said the defected pilot had been living in Spain under a fake identity.
