A nice Video of the Gokdeniz CIWS in Action, Philippine Navy now buying Ammo for it

Just a nice Video of the Gokdeniz Close In Weapons System (CIWS) on board the BRP Miguel Malvar (FFG-06) Guided Missile Frigate of the Philippine Navy (PN). It is the first, true, Purpose-built Gun-based CIWS used on any PN Vessel. The System uses two 35 mm caliber Cannons to fire at a rate of 1,100 rpm, and has an Effective Range of up to 4 km. As can be seen from the Video, it has its own Fire Control Radar (FCR) and Electro-Optical (EO) System. Additionally, Good News that the PN is now in the process of acquiring the necessary Ammunition for this Weapon, it is bidding out for 16,000 High Explosive, Incendiary-Tracer (HEI-T) rounds for it at a cost of around Php 442 million. The Bad News is that the PN is not buying yet the specialized, ATOM 35 Airburst Ammunition (ABM) that is designed to be most effective against fast, incoming Anti-Ship Cruise Missiles. The ATOM 35 ABM is designed to explode near a Target and shower it with Tungsten Pellets, so there is no need for a direct hit to take that Missile out, the Ammo just needs to be near enough it. I think that the PN will likely be getting this Type of Ammo at a later Date.
