The president shuffled onto the stage and gave a stilted, stuttering performance in which he forgot his lines, made basic factual errors. And at one point just stopped talking altogether. Back in 2020, the main problem with the presidential debate was that they were too combative that we had Joe Biden and Donald Trump slinging insults at each other. New rules about this debate, which meant that the two men couldn’t talk over each other. They had microphones which cut off at the end of their allotted time, and that played Donald Trump’s strengths.
