Leonid Sarafanov is former principal in Mariinsky Ballet, and now principal in Mikhailovsky Theatre Ballet. He studied at the Kiev State School, and graduated in 2000. The same year, he joined the Kiev Ballet as soloist. In 2002, he joined the Mariinsky Ballet. He was promoted to soloist in 2003, and he became a principal quickly.
