These goals aim to address the world’s most pressing social, economic, and environmental challenges by the year 2030. The SDGs build upon the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) that were set from 2000 to 2015. The 17 SDGs encompass a wide range of interconnected issues, including poverty eradication, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, sustainable cities and communities, responsible consumption and production, climate action, and biodiversity conservation, among others. The goals are designed to promote sustainable development in its three dimensions: economic, social, and environmental. Each goal is accompanied by a set of specific targets and indicators to measure progress. Governments, organizations, businesses, and individuals around the world are encouraged to work towards achieving these goals through their policies, practices, and actions. The SDGs aim to create a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable future for all people while ensuring the protection of the planet. #sdgs #health #lecture Professor Armen Astvatsatryan, MD, PhD, ScD, FESC.
