Buses Old And New At Chiswick (1938)

Chiswick, London. Various shots of buses from the last 100 years belonging to the Transport Board as we see people in Victorian costume getting on the vehicles in a park. Some ladies have a little trouble getting on the Shillibeer bus of 1829 and the knifeboard of 1850 in their hooped skirts; one woman gets stuck in a doorway until a man gives her a shove. The horse-drawn buses make their way through the park followed by motor buses, including Ole / Old Bill, the bus that went to France in the First World War. Brief shot of a bus conductress / clippie standing inside a bus. M/S of a woman in Victorian dress, holding up her crinoline dress as she runs for a bus.
