Germany: Police scuffle with protesters as parliament debates COVID law changes in Berlin

Subscribe to our channel! Police and protesters broke out into multiple scuffles as anti-lockdown protesters rallied in the streets and park surrounding German parliament in Berlin on Wednesday. The demonstrators were rallying as the Bundestag is set to vote on a new ’Infection Protection Act,’ which enables the government to take powers from the regions in the fight against the pandemic by introducing nationwide rules. The crowd that attended the rally on the famous Strasse des 17. Juni which connects the Brandenburg Gate with the Victory Column was so large that the protest spilled over into the nearby Tiergarten park. Scuffles broke out as police attempted to disperse the crowds, leading to multiple people being detained as well as police having to use pepper spray at one point.
