The Bible is trustworthy. Despite its obvious teaching regarding its divine origin and the miracles and fulfilled prophesies that demonstrate its authority, the Bible has frequently been assaulted. It makes sense that Satan would spare no effort to destroy our most potent weapon. He desires that the Lord’s servants question its value, question its correctness, disregard it, or disregard it. Understanding the origin and transmission of the Bible from God to us, however, enables us to appreciate this marvelous tool and its centrality to the success of our ministry. The Bible is the greatest literary work, having been composed by over 40 separate authors in three languages over a period of more than 1400 years. Yet its coherence, consistency, and absence of conflict demonstrate that God exists. God is the primary author, guiding every human author to ensure the final output is precisely as He intended.
