EXCLUSIVE: Councils will not repair pothole-strewn streets in Bolton and Bradford

The road, which is known as Mayfield Avenue, is located just off Manchester Road in Burnden. It is an unadopted road, which means that the council is not legally responsible for its maintenance. However, the developer who built the road has also refused to repair it, despite being under a legal obligation to do so for five years after construction. This has left residents of the street facing a never-ending cycle of potholes, which they say are a hazard to pedestrians and vehicles alike. One resident, Sarah Ahmed, said: “The road is very narrow and very bumpy, which fills up with huge amounts of rain and mud. “The potholes are so bad that you can’t walk past it. Some days we are unable to walk outside, and I have to carry my daughter out of the house. “I have been fighting for nine years, calling the council and speaking to everyone I could speak to.
