Dead Grinning Horse

This song is a retelling of a nightmare that I had almost 20 years ago during a mountaineering hike in Altai Mountains and remembered it for the rest of my life With the nightmare still fresh in my mind I woke up in a cold sticky sweat The vision: a dead horse standing and grinning Staring at me right back It’s blocking the narrow mountain trail But to turn back I wouldn’t try I somehow know – what’s behind my back Is not for a human’s eye Dead horse standing and smiling Telling what I have to know Each person has to die sometime And it will meet me when I go Its maggotfull wounds are dripping with ichor With each smile directed at me More flesh is peeling off the skull And is widening its grin Before that dream I was feeling fine I didn’t want that night To be reminded how fragile And short is my own life Dead horse standing and smiling Telling what I have to know Each person has to die sometime And it will meet me when I go I already have started rotting inside…. The creature keeps smiling in silence… The demiurge is mocking me…. With the beast’s inevitable smile… Dead horse standing and smiling Telling what I have to know Each person has to die sometime And it will meet me when I go Dead horse standing and smiling Telling what I have to know Each person has to die sometime And it will meet me when I go
