Growing up in suburban Connecticut, I didn’t know much of the boating world. It wasn’t until I moved down to Virginia in 2019 and started paddling seriously that I began noticing the rivers around me. Little did I know, less than two hours from where I grew up sits the Dryway section of the Deerfeild River! Nestled in the rolling mountains of Northern Massachusetts, this run offers wicked fun bebop, plenty of splayed-out boofs and a vibrant whitewater community. With regular dam releases, this makes the Dryway one of the Northeast’s most reliable destinations for premier paddling!
