C A S A

With the honorable collaboration of Adnan Jerbi as cinematographer and Lisbet Pérez Roldán as a visual artist (body art), CASA sets out to experiment with various forms. Through a multidisciplinary line combining plastic arts, dance, music and film, I aim to dive into the contemporary situation of Cuban society. CASA means home and it also responds to recent protests lead by young Cuban intellectuals and artists at the doors of the Ministry of Culture in Havana, demanding freedom of expression. I remember the anger and frustration of people and yet the strength of their voices like a conga march, still isolated though, at least from the leader’s ears. CASA hosts a dance and a protest in an empty warehouse, by combining some Cuban popular rhythms, techno and the vibrant colors of its flag within a cold and neglected space. CASA is how I perceive a country, its people and myself as three isolated bodies, craving for democracy.
