Elvis Presley’s visit to Weeki Wachee Springs State Park

(July 30, 1961), Elvis Presley took a break from filming “Follow that Dream“ in nearby Citrus County to visit the Weeki Wachee Mermaids. Although the quality is not real good, it captures Elvis meeting some of the 3,000 excited fans who gathered to hopefully catch a glimpse of him. The meet-n-greet line was formed across from the underwater theater, where Buccaneer Bay is now located.
