What Really Happened to Crazy Town?

There was however a much darker side to the Los Angeles based Rap Metal outfit. Singer Shifty Shellshock had been struggling with a life-long substance addiction that was no doubt causing issues within the band. Their second record, Darkhorse was a commercial disaster as the band turned into more of a generic alternative rock band and in 2003 they officially went on hiatus. But their story doesn’t stop there. #CrazyTown #Butterfly A year later Crazy Town guitarist Charles Lopez better known by his stage name Rust Epique died of an Aortic rupture. And some years after this in 2008, Singer Shifty Shellshock would appear on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew to try and battle some of his demons and save his music career which by this point was scrapping the gutter at best. Although Crazy Town officially reformed a year before in 2007 prior to Shifty’s stint on Celebrity Rehab, it seemed like the worst possible timing as in 2009 DJ AM, and originally member of the band would be found dead in his apartment of an accidental drug overdose. And it seemed that Shifty’s addictions were still haunting him as he went into a coma in 2012 at a hospital in Los Angeles for reasons unknown. However, he was arrested just two months earlier for possession of cocaine.
