This song was written in the summer of 1999, after sitting in Maharishi’s garden meditating for many hours, wishing to have a chance to meet him. Seven years later, in April 2005, I had the great good fortune to sing ’To be close to you’ to Maharishi live. After finishing the song there was a long, silent pause, and then Maharishi said, “Sing a ’Jai Guru Dev’ song“. I didn’t have a ’Jai Guru Dev’ song to sing at that time.
