この曲はFace dizainさんとLilLadyAさんにリクエストされました。ありがとうございます!
This song was requested by Face dizain and LilLadyA, thank you! Kyo changed a fair bit of the lyrics which I was able to get by ear for the most part, but I still recommend you take a look at the annotations for this one, since a few lines were a bit hard to hear.
This performance is from DEG’s TOUR16-17 FROM DEPRESSION TO ______[mode of VULGAR].
Translation by me.
Annotations to DRAIN AWAY:
“The nostalgia of the pressed flower - The evening sky is soaked in memories“ - Just wanted to say that the words are aligned in a way that allows (or actually, requires) a bit of interpretation in English. So I wouldn’t be surprised to see this translated slightly differently somewhere else.
“How sad - Endless evidence - The voice is dead and overnight it’s spring“ - A few things here. “How sad“ is an expression, “evidence“ as in the evidence of a crime. Now, by translating the last part as “the voice is dead“ I stuck very closely to the meaning of the kanji used (亡き). Without the written lyrics this might sound like “there’s no voice“ (無き) or even “the voice cries out (like a bird)“ (鳴き).
“Drowning in the evening“ - This doesn’t have to be taken literally. “Drowning“ can also be understood in the sense of indulging in something.
“Under those cherry blossoms she was waiting“ - I chose “those“ to try to convey that he’s talking about the cherry blossoms of the aforementioned early blooming he saw (this is clear in the original, but it would’ve made for an awfully long line that wouldn’t fit the screen. Hope it still came across).
Also, the original lyrics actually say “she was standing“. Kyo changed it to “waiting“ in this performance.
Now to the parts Kyo changed. He changed two big parts of the chorus. Most of it isn’t too hard to hear, so I’m quite confident about those parts. I’d still like to point out which parts I’m not so sure about.
This is what I believe he is singing:
口笛響く声の
ふいに咲く描いた色に (definitely weird grammatically, which is why I think there’s probably more to it. The translation is a bit loose because I’m trying to make sense of it.)
壊れてゆくこの日を
心の闇とともに生きている
And:
恐れも繰り返した (I hear “usore“, but since that doesn’t make sense I think “osore“ (fear) is the next closest thing it might be)
夢で会う日を君に(言おうと?)(not sure what form of verb he uses, but I could imagine the verb itself is 言う which is why I included it in the translation. Because the grammar isn’t clear, this line is also loosely translated.)
弱さと目を閉じてた
繋いだ思い出の中
壊され見えない未来
Edit:
zo mu gave their take on bits of the changed lyrics in the comments and thanks to that I think we cleared up some uncertainties!
口笛響く小屋の - This would be “the hut where the whistling resounds“.
ふいに咲く涙色に - What didn’t make sense grammatically at first turns out to be one word. I think this is correct. Translated this would be “in the color of your tears that suddenly bloom“.
嘘でも繰り返した - The part I translated as “even my fears“ would become “even the lies“, which makes sense in my opinion. I think this too is correct.
夢で逢う日を君に笑顔と - This would be “The day we’ll meet in our dreams, to you with a smile“.
With only some lines where I’m not 100% sure about some words, I’m quite happy with this. Most of the time it’s way harder to make out what lyrics Kyo made up. This isn’t the first song I think this about, but to be frank, I wouldn’t be surprised to find out Kyo makes these lyrics up on the spot. That would explain some of the endings of the sentences being so mumbly. Then again, Kyo has always had a thing for distorting words.

I translate for fun and wanted to share this translation.
