Local Dogs Discovered a Caiman

Earlier this week, my friends and I visited Tayrona National Park (Parque Nacional Natural Tayrona) in Colombia, which is close to Santa Marta, Colombia. After hiking, we stayed at a beach and were able to see some beautiful fish with our goggles 🤿. We walked past a small patch of water a patch of water a few times, which was like a pond, going between the beach and the showers and other things. I was curious to find local dogs barking at something in the small patch of water. I looked at the water, but couldn’t see what they were barking at. Initially 2 dogs were barking at something then stopped barking, so I thought maybe the dogs were barking at each other. A few minutes later dogs barked again at what seemed something at the water, but I still couldn’t see what they were barking at. Then I walked closer, and saw a caiman hiding. I was amazed and a little scared at the same time. I was really amazed dogs could find a caiman and presumably were barking to alert others of the danger or maybe to try to scare off the caiman because it was in their territory, or a bit of both.
